Meet The North Artist Focus: Sleeptape

04/05/2018

Prepare for Sleeptape’s dream pop and alternative laden Meet The North set by getting to know the band a little better…

What’s been going on in your world, any new releases coming up or already out that we should look out for?

We released our single ‘Benefit’ at the end of March 2018. You can find it here: https://goo.gl/14Z9YsWe released the track with a sold out launch show at Newcastle’s Head Of Steam.

Newcastle has some stunning Northern eccentricities, like the ability to have a Greggs pasty mid-way through a night out, but what’s the most ‘Northern’ thing you or any of your bandmates are guilty of?

We all love Greggs, we can’t go to Stockton without getting a parmo, Jonny loves Newcy Brown and Luke loves Rafa but apart from that we don’t really have anything haha! Jonny and Butters are from West Yorkshire and Elliot was born in Greece and raised in York, so there’s only Luke who’s a real Northerner anyway!

We’ve got some great acts playing across Meet the North and Hit the North, who are you most excited to see?

We’re all really excited to catch Peace, Marmozets and Pale Waves! We saw Marsicans recently at Stockton Calling and they were wicked, so we’ll be catching them too! As for local bands, there’s so many top bands coming out of Newcastle at the minute, but we’ll be making sure to catch Cape Cub, Feva and Sauvage (and anyone else we possibly can haha!)

Got any hot tips for Northern acts not playing the festivals we should keep our eye out for?

Are ‘Be Quiet. Shout Loud!’ playing? If not, them. They’re the most joyful sounding band around! They’re a mixture of Indie and Disco!

We’re massive fans of York based King No One and Leeds/ Newcastle based Polo too!

MEET THE NORTH 2018.

Sleeptape play Meet the North on Saturday 5th May as part of the bigger Hit the North Weekend. Weekend tickets for the festival are nearly sold out so act quickly to grab yourself access to Drenge, Circa Waves, Jungle, Peace, Rat Boy, The Horrors, Tom Grennan and so many more amazing acts across the weekend.
