Meet The North is all about discovering new artists that surprise us, so tell us something about your band that we might not already know.
We’re producing the new Fletcher Jackson records – nice to work really closely with other local bands.
What’s been going on in your world, any new releases coming up or already out that we should look out for?
We released ‘Get it and Go’ at the end of last year and have our next single out at the end of May.
Newcastle has some stunning Northern eccentricities, like the ability to have a Greggs pasty mid-way through a night out, but what’s the most ‘Northern’ thing you or any of your bandmates are guilty of?
Sniffing lines and bucking 9’s
We’ve got some great acts playing across Meet the North and Hit the North, who are you most excited to see?
I’ve loved Peace for ages now but never got to see them, so to be on the same bill as them is really exciting for us! We’re working a lot with Fletcher Jackson at the moment so it’ll be great to see them play some new stuff live. I’m also buzzing to see Flyte who I’ve also been enjoying since the release of their album last year.
Got any hot tips for Northern acts not playing the festivals we should keep our eye out for?
Andy: I think most Northern bands are actually playing this festival to be honest, but I’ve been enjoying Pons Aelius a lot recently – they’re a group formed on the Newcastle Uni Music course and play a great mix of Trad Folk and Dance music. They’re doing really well in their respective circles so it’d be great to get them onto something like Hit the North. Carabiniers are also mint.
