Live from Times Square

City Centre, Newcastle

Newcastle’s premium open-air music festival is set to return for a third year in 2018.

For the past two years, SSD Concerts have taken over Times Square to bring you seven out of this world performances. With over 40,000 music fans in attendance,  Live From Times Square is the biggest inner-city music event Newcastle has ever seen.

2016 saw the launch of Live from Times Square, a labour of love for the Davis brothers of SSD Concerts who wanted to bring open-air live music back to Newcastle. Previously revellers had the opportunity to attend Evolution Festival, however since its discontinuation, there has been no large-scale outdoor music event to rival it’s popularity. Enter Time Square to change the face of music in Newcastle forever.

Live from Times Square 2018 have announced that minimalist electronic music maestro Bonobo will be returning to Newcastle to headline the square.

Heading to Times Square on 23rd of August, Simon Green, known by his stage name as Bonobo, will make a triumphant return to the region after selling out The Sage, Gateshead in 2017.

The Grammy-nominated dance act brings with him 2017’s top five UK album charted release ‘Migration’. Bonobo’s immersive live performances see him play with a 13 piece live band to spectacular effect.

Born in Brighton, but now based in Los Angeles, Bonobo initially appeared on the scene in early 2000 with a trip-hop aesthetic, however over time his style has developed to explore a more upbeat approach. Bonobo can now be found in an experimental ground between modern electronica, jazz-fusion and world music.

Green’s work has earned him a cult following and now with six studio albums, Bobono’s appeal continues to swell.

Support acts for Bonobo’s performance at Live From Times Square will be announced soon.
