News: Foals to rock This Is Tomorrow in 2019

Foals are the latest colossal act announced as headliners for This Is Tomorrow! They will perform at Exhibition Park, Newcastle on Friday 24th May 2019…

Foals are one of the UK’s most sought after festival acts. Previous headliner credentials for the band include Reading and Leeds and Citadel. They are the second headliner announced for This Is Tomorrow 2019 after the news broke that Noel Gallagher will be headlining the Saturday of the festival.

For the band, going from festival act to headliners has been a seemingly inevitable progression. Their four album-spanning career started off with math-rock stylised debut ‘Antidotes,’ (2008) followed by the Afrobeat and techno inspired ‘Total Life Forever’ (2010).

However, it was their latter two efforts which cemented the band as the anthem makers we know and love today. Both ‘Holy Fire’ (2013) and ‘What Went Down,’ (2015) produced behemoths like ‘My Number,’ ‘Inhaler,’ ‘What Went Down,’ and ‘Mountain at My Gates’.

Foals have been out of the spotlight for a little while working on their fifth album. This is Tomorrow will be one of the first shows after the band finally re-emerge.

They are certain to expose fans to new material in addition to the hits on what will be a live music event for the ages in Newcastle.

The rest of the lineup on this day all have the potential to go on to be festival headliners in the future too. (If they haven’t done so already).

You Me At Six have been a main staple on the UK’s alternative scene since their formation. The band have been taking fans on a nostalgia trip with their latest tour celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their debut ‘Take Off Your Colours’.

However, they are continuing to release new music too. 2018 has seen You Me At Six release their sixth effort ‘VI’ which was well received by critics.

Nothing But Thieves are an incredibly exciting addition to the billing. The group are lead by Connor Mason, an incredibly talented vocalist who gives them an edge over any other alternative band going right now.

Homegrown talents The Pale White are also appearing. The trio are one of the best loved acts to have emerged from Newcastle’s burgeoning scene in the last few years. Their placement on the This Is Tomorrow Stage is well in line with their large, ambitious sound.

Other rising stars on the lineup are Bad Sounds, Anteros, Kawala and Wild Front.
