‘Runaway’ is a super energetic song with elements of folk, indie and pop rolled into one. The band have found their own offbeat sound and the new video is an extension of their quirks.
Of the video, Kawala state “Our intention with the video for Runaway was to offer something that couldnt be more different from the song itself. In thinking how we could ever possibly counter such a positive, upbeat journey song, we discovered that there was simply only one option: a Sci-Fi space mission in which we defeat an evil queen, save a monster and recruit it to join our space team before breaking out in to arguably the greatest dance sequence in modern history…Obviously.”
Kawala are a Camden based quintet consisting of Jim Higson (Lead Vocals), Daniel McCarthy (Guitar, Vocals), Ben Batten (Drums), Reeve Coulson (Bass) and Dan Lee (Guitar).
This spring they will perform live in Newcastle on two separate occasions! These are at Hit The North festival and This Is Tomorrow festival. Hit The North is an inner city festival taking place on 5th May 2019. The bill is topped by Jake Bugg, Tom Grennan and Shame in addition to over 100 more acts.
Kawala play on the Friday of This Is Tomorrow 2019 which takes place on the second May Bank Holiday weekend. It includes a headline set from Foals. Other acts performing are You Me At Six, Nothing But Thieves, The Pale White and more. There are also two more days of action with Noel Gallagher headlining the Saturday and Stereophonics headlining the Sunday.
