News: Richard Ashcroft announced for Wasteland 2019


Newcastle’s Wasteland has announced a third day of live music at Spillers Wharf. Richard Ashcroft is headlining the event on 14th July and will be joined by some very special guests…

Richard Ashcroft is regarded by many as a Britpop legend. The artist first made his name as the charismatic frontman in The Verve. With The Verve, Ashcroft performed many iconic 90s tracks including ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, ‘Lucky Man’, ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’, ‘History’ and more.

The band’s album ‘Urban Hymns’ was both a critical and commercial success, crowned as the 19th best selling album in UK history and allowing the group to pick up two Brit awards.

However, Ashcroft is an esteemed artist in his own right. He has released a number of successful solo albums including the Mercury Prize nominated ‘Alone With Everybody’ and his latest his latest ‘Natural Rebel’ came out in 2018.

The singer-songwriter will give an unmissable performance at the inaugural edition of Wasteland along with special guests who will be announced soon. Also performing at the event are Bloc Party and Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls who headline on the 12th and 13th July respectively.

For tickets to Richard Ashcroft pre-sale begins on 10 am on Thursday 14th March and general sale begins on Friday 15th March at 10 am.
