Fender’s session included a cover of ‘Born in the USA’ by The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.
Although Sam’s original material is great in its own right, his rendition of the Springsteen classic is just as strong. He belted out the track with such emotion that it felt like it could have been one of his own.
Audio of this brilliant cover has now been posted on Sam’s youtube channel and you can stream it below.
Much like Bruce Springsteen, Fender’s songwriting is poetic and insightful. It wouldn’t be surprising if the artist manages to have a similarly prolific music career in the coming years.
Speaking of Sam’s writing, he also performed his latest single (and former GNE Track of The Week) ‘Dead Boys.’
Sam has been championed by Mac and other BBC Radio 1 presenters, even featuring on the station’s Sound of 2018 Poll.
The latter half of this year is shaping up to be one of the most exciting periods for the singer songwriter to date.
He will be playing his first UK headline tour. It includes three dates at London’s Omeara venue (an extra date has just been added as the first two have sold out!).
North East fans have an edge over Sam Fender’s fans down south though. They have the privilege of catching him performing his FINALE show at Newcastle University on November 17th. Support comes from fellow Newcastle band A Festival, A Parade.
Tickets are on the cusp of selling out. If you haven’t got yours yet then what on Earth are you waiting for!?
