Vevo has carefully selected 20 artists for the scheme which hopes to shine a light on rising stars within the industry and help project their music to the masses. The list offers a selection of the most exciting new bands from a wide range of different genres.
After a rousing performance at this years Hit The North festival, Sports Team are returning to headline Riverside on November 25th with support from Alfie Templeman. For fans of Shame, Fontaine’s D.C and Hotel Lux, Sports Team have been performing almost solidly for the past year and have now cemented themselves as indie household names.
Previous alumni of the artist development scheme, which was launched in 2011, include names such as Pale Waves, Lewis Capaldi and Slowthai. JP Evangelista, Vice President of Content, Programming and Marketing at Vevo released a statement explaining the importance of the scheme, “The Vevo team takes great pride in fostering new talent and helping expose our audience to artists we feel will make an impact in the forthcoming year. We’re excited to shine a light on these 20 artists, and watch as they continue to grow their fan base into 2020.”
Their most recent single ‘Fishing’ is taken from their yet to be named debut album and is a turbulent mix of weird and wonderful sounds. The band’s commanding stage presence and distinctive style of performance have set them on course to be festival headliners of the future. Frontman, Alex Rice has noted that “the songs are written to be a spectacle live” which suggests that their biggest Newcastle headline date will not be one to miss out on.
