Preview: C Duncan – 25/4/19 – The Cluny, Newcastle

Scottish musician and composer C Duncan gives us indie dream-pop worth listening to. He graces the stage as a headliner at Newcastle’s The Cluny on the 25th of April…

C Duncan, real name Christopher, has been surrounded by music his entire life. With both parents musicians, Duncan learned to play piano and viola, before playing in bands as a teenager drove him to play guitar, bass, and drums.

The artist released his first single ‘For’ in December of 2014. Since then, his debut album ‘Architect’ was nominated for the 2015 Mercury Music Prize followed by second album ‘The Midnight Sun’ in October 2016. Currently signed to FatCat Records, the talented musician has just released his third album, ‘Health’.

29-year-old Christopher records and produces everything himself, with his latest album the first time to be produced by someone else: Elbow’s Craig Potter. It’s contemporary pop flowing through an indie vein, creating sweet and harmonious melodies with electronic beats.

Duncan attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has a degree in music composition. It’s where he gets his musical creativity from – mixing together classical sounds with hushed vocal pop and creating an entirely unique genre of music.

Being gay, the composer uses his talents to support and promote LGBT rights, saying that he never had a gay role model and wishes to provide that for someone else.

Catch him at The Cluny in Newcastle on the 25th of April because you won’t be disappointed. Grab your tickets here.
