Preview: Fucked Up – 21/1/19 – Think Tank?, Newcastle


Canadian hardcore punk rockers Fucked Up bring their riotous performance to Newcastle’s Think Tank? on 21st January filled with furious infectious energy…

Fucked up are a hardcore punk band from Toronto, Canada. Their reputation supersedes them, legends on the punk scene they are renowned for putting on a fantastic show.

The band formed in 2001, the current line-up consisting of six incredible musicians; Damian Abraham on vocals, Mike Haliechuk on guitar and vocals, Josh Zucker on guitar. Ben Cook on guitar and vocals, Sandy Miranda on bass and Jonah Falco on drums and providing vocals.

To date, Fucked Up have released 5 studio albums as well as several EP’s and singles. Furthermore in 2009, their second studio album ‘The Chemistry of Common Life’ won the 2009 Polaris Music Prize.

In contrast, their latest album ‘Dose your Dreams’ is a concept album, focusing on a character the band have constructed musically named ‘David’. This recent release is sonically diverse, it is evident that there has been close attention paid to detail.

The band have been experimenting once more, with thick-layered guitars and using a multitude of vocals. Thematically, the album explores the themes of love, doubt, suicide, chaos and

Fucked Up’s live performances are notoriously rather anarchic and riotous; filled to the brim with glass smashing, stripping and furious energy. Most noteworthy, it’s pretty much commonplace for vocalist Abraham to leave the stage covered in his own blood.

All in all, it will be an unmissable evening that’s sure to pack a punch, get down to Think Tank? on 21st January!
