Leicester based singer Mahalia is bringing a blend of warm, laidback soul to the Toon with a Think Tank show on March 18th…
Mahalia (whose full name is Mahalia Burkmar) is one of the most promising artists in the UK right now. This is thanks to her vocal talent and ability to write lyrics with a wisdom beyond her years. Her songs are presented in a slick 90s style r’n’b and listening to her is a rewarding experience.
Ahead of the show, make sure you acquaint yourself with Mahalia’s sound- influenced by the Fugees and Lauryn Hill. Her songs ‘Sober,’ (2017) and ‘No Pressure,’ (2017) are both good starting points.
In 2016 she released an album named ‘Diary Of Me.’ It is a simple but emotive offering with wonderfully introspective lyrics and perfect to chill out to.
This Spring, the singer songwriter will be performing live in a number of UK and European cities. In addition to embarking on her latest tour this year, Mahalia has released a new single ‘Proud of Me.’ It features the UK based female rapper Little Simz and good production just like on ‘No Pressure.’
She has already sold out a couple of dates including London and Manchester. Tickets for the Think Tank show in Newcastle are going quickly too so make sure you don’t miss out!
