Indie rock legends Mercury Rev play an intimate gig at the beautifully picturesque St. Nicholas Cathedral on 15th December to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit album ‘Deserter’s Songs’…

Indie rockers Mercury Rev formed in 1989, in Buffalo New York State. The band quickly grew a cult following, creating music coined as neo-psychedelia. They were well ahead of their time in both their distinct sound and incredible live performances, being compared to experimental American band the The Flaming Lips.

The mid 90s saw the band switch up their sound moving from darker sounds to a more melodic avant-pop vibe. Their fan base kept growing rapidly, and their 1998 release ‘Deserter’s Songs’ made them huge stars. Overall, they received huge critical acclaim for the studio album, in addition to it being named NME’s Album of the year.

In total, Mercury Rev have released 8 studio albums as well as featuring on film soundtracks, compilations and releasing their own live album. Mercury Rev are in Toon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of acclaimed album ‘Deserter’s Songs.’ It will certainly be a phenomenal evening in an intimate setting. St. Nicholas Cathedral has unbelievable acoustics that will make for a magical performance.
